About Glass Infused Pottery…
Using many of the same techniques used in traditional pottery, and then adding broken bits of recycled glass for the kiln to melt, is the essence of the glass infused pottery process. The crackle glass surface created is smooth to touch and sparkles with profound rich colors and textures. Other textures and designs in the clay are achieved mainly with natural and found objects (impressing or drawing with rocks, shells, etc.) giving an organic, nature inspired feeling. Each piece is created to be a functional piece of art with as much versatility as possible. The crackle glass surface is semi-porous. This makes it useful for soap dishes, coasters, or anything else that needs to soak up liquids. However, no consumable liquids or foods should be placed on the glass.

The profit is in the passion. Paloma Pottery as a business is equally as important to me as the pottery and glass pieces I create. I am committed to customer service, following through with my word, and "busting my glass for you." Dedicated to encouraging and creating a sustainable business and following other socially responsible business models. I reduce, reuse, recycle when at all possible throughout all business and creative processes (anything from collecting recycled packaging to using found objects to create texture).
No inflated prices, just simple pleasures. Offering affordable art without inflated prices is an important part of my pricing. Paloma Pottery thrives on the notion that love for one's work will create profit and that passion and joy themselves are profits, as well as the monetary earnings. I am frugal, reuse as much as possible and seldom waste ~ allowing me to keep my prices low without sacrificing quality.

About the Potter…
Beginning with pottery classes in 1995, I soon realized how fulfilling working with the clay is for me ~ providing me with physical and mental stimulation, challenges in art and business, social time and solitude, creation, recycling and much more. I am always trying to find use for things that may otherwise be thrown away. Naturally, I was inspired to recycle glass in my pottery and created my line Recycled Glass Infused Paloma Pottery. It never ceases to amaze me how trash can become art. Reduce, reuse, recycle as a mission, I began my business in 2000. As a profession, it has been profoundly rewarding and therapeutic. I'm a hard worker and wear most of the hats in my business, which is both challenging and empowering. Though I currently live and work in Washington State, much of my learning was with my mentor, Liz Vigoda, in Albany, New York. Another mentor, the founder of the Body Shop, Anita Roddick, inspired me with her belief that social responsibility in business is just good practice and good business.
